  San Francisco or Bay Area Members?

  i did a search and came up with some posts related to san francisco, but i couldn't figure out how to find more recent onesthey were from nearly a dozen years ago!

  i was wondering if anyone lives around sf, as well as if anyone is around my age?

  i'm early 30's.

  Sickening Dilemma

  i would like to have your opinions on what i should do about a situation please.. i have recently discovered that a 'brother' in the congregation (which i no longer attend) is a child molester.

  i've seen documentation from his psychiatrist dated a few years ago, stating that he doesn't feel that this person is likely to offend again.

  the 'brother' has said to the elders at some point that he has it under control but cannot be 100% sure it won't happen again.

  On second thought, let the fiancee know NOW. The daughter might have been abused already, who knows? Do it anonymously if you have to, but do it!

  First, call the police anonymously.

  Then call child protective services anonymously.

  Then figure out if you still want to be a JW. If you do, DO NOT contact the elders about this. The weird thing about the current policy, is that the local elders CANNOT decide whether he is or not a child molester, that is all from Watchtower HQ now. (How stupid!)

  You do not have to contact his fiancee. Trust me, law enforcement and CPS will take care of that PRONTO.

  Why Do People Kill?

  i know that killing has gone on since the beginning of time.. but i wonder why some people kill?.

  are they typically screwy in the head?.

  are they just angry at the world or their family member or their boss?.

  i just was going to get some meds refilled, but i was having a panic attack when they checked my vitals.

  they insisted i go to my doctor immediately.

  Thank you for all of your comments. I am doing much better today. I appreciate all of the practical advice and experiences you have shared, along with all the well wishes from my friends. Yeah Flip, a jam with you would be a blast!

  I have learned meditation techniques that help me in times of stress, and they do help me to zen out. All the self-help books that I have read over the years have been a big help. I am going through a big transition right now, so the anxiety comes and goes. At least I have the tools and other resources to deal with whatever comes my way.

  I explained what happened when I visited my family doctor. He did not prescribe any BP meds for now, but refilled my Xanax for those real bad days. Much of my pressure will ease tomorrow. This too shall pass, but I am ready for it.

  i was describing jehovah's witnesses to a family member who had no idea whatsoever about them.

  i may be straightforward and describe things in terms i have learned since reading about cults, but i was not over the top in any way.

  i was simply stating the facts in a way that did not try to put any positive spin on anything.. my family member said, "so they are basically the amish but with televisions and electricity.

  It is funny you mention that OTWO. I had a similar conversation with a GF of mine after leaving the JWs. We were dicussing politics, and she asked me who I voted for. When I told her I had never voted, she got mad at me. I explained to here that JWs couldn't ote and she didn't beleive me.

  I explained to her that growing up a Witness was very much like being Amish. There are so many things that are forbidden.
